Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselo says the island is “an even better place” after Hurricanes Maria and Maria-like devastation and that Puerto Rico will be ready for its recovery from Hurricane Maria.
In an interview Sunday with CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Rosselospanos statement comes after the island was hit with a record number of natural disasters over the past month, including Hurricanes Maria, Maria-related tornadoes and a powerful hurricane, Irma, that hit Puerto Rico in late September.
Rosselosapublicans governor has faced criticism for his handling of the response to Hurricane Maria, which devastated Puerto Rico.
He said he was “grateful” to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the relief provided to Puerto Ricans who were still without power after the hurricane, and said he felt the hurricane was a “great loss.”
He said the U.S. has been “a very strong and reliable ally” in Puerto Rico since it was devastated by the storm.
